Laura Smith (in the submission thread) wrote:Abracadabra

With the A's and B's in the form rules I thought of "Abracadabra". I was thinking about the sort of music that magicians use in their act when they are performing.
Woow ! that was fast ! :D

Post

Well I had 24 hours to think about what the theme might be about and record something. I even made A-B-A the first few notes of the bass line! :D

Post

Laura, that was faster than Xander posting his first " :bang: " :D :D :D

edit: I feel a stick descending on my nuggin even as I write this...
Every time you use autotune, God kills a kitten.
Please, think of the kittens.

I thought it was going to be form ABACAB? Fewer parts means less stress, in a way.

Does that mean that the composing, recording and submission of this song took 15 minutes or 12 hours and 15 minutes.

Perhaps a stupid question, but we don't have am & pm here.

I can't find a good "verbalization" right now but for example, Beatles' Hey Jude is AABABAC. It's the song sections that matter. Two consecutive A's can have different lyrics and slightly different instrumentation (verse) while B is a different melody phrase (chorus)

Hmm, making any sense here..?

ABACAB = AB AC AB = ABA if you think about it.

I anticipated the form. I took a couple of hours during our school music festival rehearsal today to put together the score. We were sitting in the hall and I used my laptop and a notation program to put it together. About 4 hours end to end for this - all the score was typed in on a qwerty keyboard by hand - no midi keyboards.

Tonight the guitar and sax were laid over the sequenced backing track. I used Waves C1 on the guitar and C4 and RVerb on the rest to glue it together. My Dad taught me how to put together the brass parts a few years ago.

So it was a little rushed. The guitar was the second take with some clams edited out using n-track's volume curves and the sax was just blended in after two takes with the other brass. It sticks out a bit in places for pitch, but I left it alone because it had the right feel overall.[/url]

it took 15 min. All the Smiths are different forms of our beloved sHush, i suppose, the instant soup maker.
