Just a quick note to let folks know that there are two new ambient releases now available for free download/listening at Earth Mantra Netlabel (www.earthmantra.com) ::

Darkened Soul is known for lush, soulful soundscapes that are, well, dark. While 'Dreamscapes' is definitely plenty dark for any fan of the genre to enjoy, it easily evades the trap of unlistenability that dark ambience too often falls into. Indeed, this is an extremely approachable album for any fan of ambient music. The artist masterfully blends subtle melodic elements with his trademark abstract sound creations, creating an album of great depth and intelligence. We're giving the music away free, therefore we got no skin in the game, so humor us if we say we think this album is an instant classic. It is. One of the top releases of 2007 by a supremely talented artist.

CHON = Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, the by-products of fire. So, what does this music signify? What's it all about? The answer's simple: nothing at all! This piece was composed purely to listen to while reading or in a bath (where the artist claims he spends an inordinate length of time). With this music playing it is like having a long soak beside a warm open fire, or like curling up with a good book in a semi-darkened room with just a puddle of light illuminating your area ... all is quiet ... maybe it is snowing outside .... That's it! No ulterior motives, just a piece of extremely deep and slowly evolving ambient music (or rather, two pieces) composed purely for their own sake, but with those ideas in mind.

All the releases are ambient and are well worth your time to download. Like all releases on Earth Mantra, these are released under Creative Commons. Since the music is free to anonymously download and enjoy, there's no reason not to grab these releases and hear for yourself.
