had to post twice, can't rid of the space between the ck unless there are two links for some reason.

the band wanted a quick dirty 4 song ep done before I record their album this winter when i plan to use proper sample rates. and my new S3

less low end on the myspace recordings this is before i used
recording schools extreme punch plugin on every track insert
and boosted the kick drum

here is the story if any is interested:

computer very slow crappy 4 year old celeron pc clone
recorded with cubase le
hardware ardvark q10 8 channel interface
recording sample rate 44.1 (it's all my crap computer can handle)
recorded completely live, all musicians were in closed very dead
rooms wearing cans while they perfomed.
i overdubbed keys for them later with my nord stage piano using standard hammond and 70's piano preset recorded direct in stereo.(i am not official in the band)

everything was recorded flat directly into the ardvark as loud a signal as possible without clipping.

vocals akg c1000 and pop screen
guitars 1 and 2 each with an sm-57 off axis
bass guitar direct out from amp
drums standard micing techniques akg-d112, 3 sm-57 and 1 akg c430 over

post mixing,eq and compression was done by the book on each track.
drumagog was used for kick and snare using samples from "dans vintage drums"
an old grestch kick and snare
vocals had a little eq boost at 2k and 6k with blockfish(preset vintage vocals) and spitfish de-essor(preset male hard vocals)
guitars standard eq boosts
bass used the ampeg svx plugin from ikmultimedia (preset ambient ba 15 with the bass and treble buttons in and mid and treble controls about 3/4 up)

recording schools plugin "extreme punch" was placed on the number insert on
all of the tracks on cubase. you would not believe the amazing saturation and low end it adds. my favorite plugin hands down.

before mastering the master bus levels were roughly at -6 db

final mix was mastered using ozone 3

thank you for your time.
i look forward to recording more of the skully knuckles this winter 2008
and doing things properly ie recording at 96 hz + overdubbs and more time spent mixing and mastering. i learned a lot from experience and researching on the internet about recording , mixing and mastering. not to mention coming to kvr from others who had great advice on techniques and great plugins.
