After a musical pause of 4 months I made my first title on my new computer.
It is a tribute to Kraftwerk but it is not a copy of the Kraftwerk music.
I tried to make a mix of some styles from Kraftwerk, Electro, Thomas Dolby, Anthony Rother and my own style.

Here is the music:
new version (many little changes):

old versions:

I used Genesis, Predator, Sylenth 1, Hypersonic 2 and Grove Agent 2
for the song.

I would be very happy to get some commnents from you. :-)

Sounds good in reference to the influences. The only useful crit I could make is the kick is kind of buried somewhere in there. I liked the vocal parts (they really give this a Kraftwerk feel) and the guitar sound that comes in around the mid point of the song.
Thanks for sharing, Gucky.
Welcome back.

I like the overall goal of this song. Dramatic and epic just like the influences. But I think the mix needs some improvement:

1 - a little cut on the mids

2 - the kick is almost unaudible, like the above poster stated. But I think it's more to do with the main synth. I'd low it down a bit, increase the bass volume and change the kick drum sound, to a TR707-like bassdrum (with a good transient). In truth, I can hear it thumping on my mind!

3 - the vocals are correct. And very cool!

I think this piece has lots of potential!! :)

Thought you'd been very quite for a while!

I agree with the others. A good start but the kick needs to be much clearer.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Hi Jazzyspoon, dark_virus, folderol
many thanks for your tips!!!
I will try to make a better kick.

I pretty much agree with the others, looking forward to the next version! :D

Kick? Who needs kick....

You have to be very white to need a kick to find the rhythm in this track.

But seriously, it sounds glorious. Really cool.

Any comment to the new version?

whoa this is cool.! This is from the album "In the mix" right? I can't remember. Anyway. Very awesome track, I like the synth sweep up, and the percs... very good job!

Post

Hi sloworm,
thanks for your comment. :-)
I don't know the album "in the mix".
So I hope its a composition of my own with some Kraftwerk style elements.

Yep! Sounds better to me! The kick seems to be in right place now! :)

It's very good as is. But I'd increase the bass bottom, and low the main synth just a little.

And something I'm hearing now (listening on crappy headphones) is that your upper freqs are a little too loud. Winamp freq spectrum shows very "active" on the right corner...

But don't get me wrong. The song is very cool! I can imagine it bombing on a 80's party, and people doing robotic choreographies!

Great track definitely worthy of our favorite German robots. I agree with dark_virus though that the mix is a tad brash, and on the whole I would prefer a slightly drier mix i.e. not quite as much 'verb and a little less feedback on the delay. Again though great track. And for some reason it also reminds me a little bit of Air.

Many thanks to all your tips.
For the new version I made many little changes:
1. Compression of the bass to get more bass
2. Change tambourin with a shaker sound to lower the high frequencies.
3. Reducing the stereo effect of the delay on the voices.
4. Make guitar more mono to get a better stereo panorama for the other
instruments in the mix.
5. Lower the reverb time from 8 sec to 6 sec to get a dry sound.
6. and some little changes I can't remember.

I am not sure whether the funk guitar is loud enough. What do you think?

I would be very happy to get your comments.
Its helps me very much. :-)
