Hi!
I'm just making a backing track for my work mate. So, all the weird noises in this song are recorded actually in the factory I work...
Any comments? Are the breaks and passages too artificial? What can I do more?

This is totally wicked mate....
But, for some odd reason the bass seems a little too hard... its just overpowering the rest of the track a little...
Did you put delay on it? You could probably soften it just enough with a different filter, and 1 or 150 ms delay..
cheers

Thanks for the comment. I noticed the heaviness of the bass myself as well, but didn't do anything to it yet.
I do not have a delay on the bass, and in fact I even have two different bass vstis running at the same time, they are just panned. Maybe a small dealy and a HP filter would do some good.
On a side note, I have
JamStix2 on drums, the bd driven through Ampeg SVX, Electri-Q and T-racks
Snare has CSR Plate and dBlue Glitch on it, other go straight to audio out
Bass sound is split to energyXTs own synth and ManyBass driven through Ampeg SVX
Then I have two instances of Gladiator, the arp and the errr... "hits"
Rest is what I recorded at the factory driven through dBlues Glitch.

Interesting thing, but not really my scene I'm afraid. Nicely done though.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Thanks.
Now it seems that my workmate got cold feet and doesn't want to make vocals for this...
Maybe I should give it a try...

will you? Actually I like it as it is, yes maybe the bassline is too loud
Alternatively (or together) to the vox could stay some strange horn stabs, nut still funky

Interesting track. Nice use of the factory sounds. What did you use to record them?

Well, since I wasn't really authorized to record anything on the factory, I had to do a very quick record with my laptop and my samson C03U. I couldn't really even check the levels right and noticed later on that the left and right channels were of different amplitude. I haven't really used that USB mic at all before.musikmachine wrote:Interesting track. Nice use of the factory sounds. What did you use to record them?
Well, I got some results which I was able to use on the track
All in all, I got some 10 minutes of recordings from the factory. (Yes, my workmates know I did record, but I didn't want to tell/ask my boss...)

You're in the poo now. You'll have the RIAA chasing you for royalties, ostensibly on behalf of the factory machine makers' copyright sounds

I am really digging this -- put a *slight* flanger or chorus on the basses and it should sound awesome.
I use this one in nearly every track I make -- and it's free:

here's a bit revised version, nothing really new compared to the old version, just different mixing and few effects...

I like the new mix. I think it sounds clearer and more defined which gives it more energy even though it's a slow tempo. I didn't realise how short it was but you've got a lot in there for a track that is 1:55 long, feels longer somehow. Nice werk.

Bleh, not having free time sucks... Haven't been able to do anything related to this song for about a week :/
Maybe tomorrow or tuesday.
Thanks for the comments, everyone
