That works rather well! Interesting experiment - have you got any more lined up?

interesting, some parts sound really great. I really like the idea of using shopping music - the technique fits the idea that shopping music is more or less interchangeable. Did you write the software to do this?

I use Spectrumworx to mangle with FFT audio processes, which is what this is. The Inserter module combining the two signals.. after pitching and timing the source material appropriately. There's probably a lot more to discover in the world of shopping music, but at the moment I'm content with imagining combinations and implementing them. I have an idea of what the FFT algorithms do to the sound, so I can predict fairly well what might 'work'.. having said that, there are always those happy accidents we all yearn for!
Today I went with Prodigy and Phil Oakey

except it's been blocked! inevitable i suppose..

The result is amazing, I guess there's still some room for improvement.
FFT algorithms calculate Fourier transform, as their name suggests. The question is, how is this info used to modulate sound later on? How does the signal chain look?I have an idea of what the FFT algorithms do to the sound

listened for a bit to see what you were up to.
absolutely filthy feeling. my fault, i shouldn't have been sucked into the technical fascination and taken that 'u2' part of the description seriously. guess a mashup has to be constituted of popular elements to draw attention tho.

thanks, I have been occasionally tempted by Spectrumworx - bummer that new track doesn't list on soundcloudCinningBao wrote:thanks woggle

and i deeply apologise for the bad feels. i mean i _could_ combine reich and/or cage... i prefer pop hooks for, yes, maximum potential penetration.
how about this

i'd probably approve of that cage number convolved with any broadcast ready music it's all like sitting next to phil spector and he's got a hard on and mike aquino is on the other side of you making dovey eyes and kissy faces back at him to me now
nice idea tho *wonders how sound of pac-man game would do convolved with various material would work for sampler food,ty*

closest i've come so far now is level42 with elgar; i just need to find a decent printable score of elgar to time sync the recording..
i thought this one worked quite well though:

Everyone loves the Beach Boys, and The Stranglers certainly made their mark in the Annals of music, so I thought I'd ruin two nice things with one fell swoop.
Here comes the Beach Boys singing Surfin' USA to the tune of Peaches by the The Stranglers.

It worked for me. Especially the new take on the Peaches groove.
Good work

Whoa! Fascinating sounds. Thanks for sharing. Peaches USA sounds almost like a malfunctioning amp at times.

Hey thanks cron and seismic1 - glad you like the brokenness!
It seemed obvious to me, after a few days of this madness - stimulate a track with just vocals; do as a vocoder does.
Our old friend Bobby McFerrin covered Drive My Car in the late 80's, so this is that, stimulating The Beatles' original frequencies.
If you listen carefully you will hear the original guitar solo being squeezed through McFerrin's esophagus.
