First up is a finished dark ambient track using nothing but U-he synthesizers.

I also have a small work in progress track which is below this.

Made in Ableton Live 9 Beta
On future versions i might pull the PPG pluck sounds out, because it just doesn't seem to gel with the overall feel of the track.
I might switch the drum track a bit, since i was using Waldorf Attack for the sounds. I like the kick, but the snare kind of turned into a whoosh of white noise which is cool but I want to hear more "crack".
Lots of more subtle built in modulations all playing nicely together in this track vs the usual wild DAW automation stuff I usually would do.
I need moar 9O9 snare sounds in my sample library, either that or pick up Drumazon and Nepheton as well.
My mastering chain is basically EQ-8 -> The Glue -> Izotope Ozones Limiter
All the saturation was applied in subtle amounts with Alloy2 and other things

Dark places really lives up to its title.
Lots of great thriller atmosphere going on there
I totally agree with you about the snare on Ggbr0. It could definitely
benefit from a more "snappy" snare.
Cheers

I enjoyed both of them. Darkplaces sounds like a Carpenter soundtrack. A punchier snare would improve Ggbr0, especially with that massive kick sound.
Good work
