January Contest: Voting

Vote for your Top 10 favorite compositions, in order (most-favorite = #1, proceed downward).

Voting ends on early a.m. (US Central Time), Monday, February 1.

No voting for yourself. Voters must have had 20 prior posts, or at least have participated in the contest this month.

Once you place your vote, you cannot change it, unless permission has been granted by the moderator.

In the case of equal scores after voting, entries will be separated by how many 10 pts (i.e., how many #1 votes) they got, then 9 pts and so on. (Thanks to OSC for this rule.)

A strong batch of entries this month. Strong production quality all around, so I mainly separated them out by looking at how well they evoked a sense of fear for me.

1) Nickel Smith - A Murder of Crows - Gorgeous from the start, with haunting piano and solo winds that really set a tone of fear.

2) Hellfog - Something is out there in the dark - An interesting mixture of sounds, and it definitely evokes a sense of fear.

3) Brainclaim - Infernum - Sets its gloomy tone well at the beginning with an almost religious sort of feel, before shifting to something that feels a bit more technological/industrial.

4) Jazzaria - Fright of the Bumblebee - It was a neat idea to adapt Rimsky-Korsakov, and you did it well.

5) beanpole - Feer Speech - I like how you added a synthpop element to your guitar sound here.

6) erictracks - Long Night - This really did bring a sense of insomnia for me, and it is generally a pretty atmospheric tune.

7) pur boeuf - Melacholy - Cool sounds, but I felt like I wanted to track to evolve a bit more than it ultimately did.

8) ballacr75 - Fear of Dream Circles - I liked how the bass and rhythm elements moved this track forward at a good pace, but I didn't feel the fear enough.

9) EatMe - Tape - Catchy beat, but it didn't connect to a feeling of fear for me.

10) Laguna Rising - Humidity - Really well-produced track, and an interesting choice of fear, but in the end I couldn't connect to the fear that it was describing.
