Greetings,

https://soundcloud.com/davephillips69/d ... n-for-will

A brief impressionistic solo for the Full Tines preset from my old Yamaha TX802, here rendered by Sean Bolton's Hexter, with reverb by Calf.

The MIDI file (Type 1) is available :

http://linux-sound.org/midfiles/duringrain.mid

I prefer Hexter to other DX-emus such as Dexed, but I'm open to hear the piece played on other FM synths with a similar preset. Please feel free to mangle at will. :)

Comments welcome, as always.

Best,

Nice. :)

This preset sounds great for the topic of rain. Got some nice dissonance to add a touch of uncertainty to the cheerful vibe.
Well done!

@rp314 - Thanks ! Btw, your sig reminded me of a comment made by John Milton re: logic, which he refers to as "a barren tract of rocks, sterile, except it conceive from without". Can't recall where I read it, but it made an impression.

@Allomerus - Glad you enjoyed it, I kinda like it too. :)

Best regards,

Here is another version of your piece, Dave.
No FM synths though :)

That's some lovely sounds, Slava, where do they come from ?

Thank you ! Btw, your version is the third so far, making it my second most-covered piece.

Those are Kontakt instruments:
Leading part (transposed by an Octave down) is performed by Celesta with Rotator and complete wet reverb.
Second part was split for 2 completely dry Harps -
Flageolet and Normal (for low notes)

You're lucky!
My so called Muse has been hibernating for the 3rd month in a row :x

Nice one Dave. It certainly works as an aural accompaniment to watching the rain gently falling outside, although I don't think I'll be opening those windows in order to fully immerse myself in the experience just yet. It might hit 59F here tomorrow. I'm sure Will would approve of this.

Good work :)

Very nice indeed. Not a lot of notes but the right ones.

Lots of cold outside here also and unseasonably mixed with snow. I'll be out in it all this coming weekend so that's the music I'll hear when I get home and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate.

Thanks for the responses, folks, you are all vastly appreciated ! :)

@seismic1 - Will did approve :

@fastlanephil - I hope the tune was still enjoyable after your winter interlude. :)

@layzer - Thank you, what a neat surprise ! I love that guitar patch, is that do-able in software ?

Layzer's entry brings the count to four covers now. Again, anyone can dl the MIDI file and do what they like with it, I'd just appreciate hearing about any other new versions.

Best regards,

Nicely done.
It could have been a great entry for this month contest (although there's still a 3' time limit...)
It channel very well the rainy days melancholic mood

Cheers
