It's a synthesizer that converts two images into two oscillator waveforms and then mixes them in various horrible ways. You can drag and drop images or draw them on the plugin in real time.
An earlier version of this was my entry in the 2009 KVR Developer Challenge. Since then I added a lot of things, then stopped working on it, and now months/years later I have no idea how to use it. Therefore it's about time to put a sticky thread about it in my forum.

Hey,
This little thing is a gem! I love it! I snagged it a couple years ago when I saw it in a contest and it's great for whipping up some quick and dirty synthesized mayhem.
Maybe you could throw an LFO in there to modulate the waveform blending?
Regards,
- Corin

Yes it is! It's great for Dirt basses too.Esgalachoir wrote:Hey,

Yep, lfo for waveform blending is nice..Maybe you could throw an LFO in there to modulate the waveform blending?
Maybe invert/reverse image...
Cheers

invert the colors & invert the brightness of each pixel...
Maybe you could add the ability to only play hand selected snapshots of each picture, and maybe move that snapshot around in real time?(sort of like an XY pad) That would be a lot of fun, but it sounds like it might be a lot of work to program.

Not bad!Esgalachoir wrote: Maybe you could add the ability to only play hand selected snapshots of each picture, and maybe move that snapshot around
Image oscillator already has start and end points.
So, maybe some sort of looping between start & end points with changeable position of looping...

Good ideas. Inverting the image would be easy and might have some interesting effects. The "snapshot" idea sounds much better than the current green and red dots for start and end points.

I had an older version of this, just downloaded the latest, and it seems you can already somewhat control where the image starts and stops getting played...awesome!
However, there is a HUGE bug. The presets and settings I have on all knobs aren't saved with my host when I close a project(FL Studio in my case)...so when I reopen a project, I've got to go through every instance of HDN and reset everything by hand. There's a workaround by setting automation to those parameters you wish to save, of course, but it's a hassle...

Just figure at moment, that I can move start point with beta1(only start dot) ...Esgalachoir wrote:I had an older version of this, just downloaded the latest, and it seems you can already somewhat control where the image starts and stops getting played...awesome!

I uploaded beta2:
http://thepiz.org/dl/zip/HarshDigitalNose_Beta2.zip
Added "Invert" button and hopefully fixed the project reloading... I thought I fixed that last year but I guess not. The bug was in the loading, not saving, so projects saved with the earlier version should open correctly now.
Start point moves with Shift-click, end point with Shift-right-click.

Ah, I see now... thanks for the info!Start point moves with Shift-click, end point with Shift-right-click.
Can you add "value invert" equivalent like in Gimp? (invert the brightness of each pixel)
Cheers!
