Hi,
Are there any advantages/disadvantages in performance between PCI or PCIe FireWire cards? I'm considering these three :-

What are your thoughts on these and which would you recommend?

Imho there's no advantage in PCIe, and no disadvantage in PCI. Other than your next mobo might not have any PCI slot, but only PCIe
Any card with a TI Chipset would do me thinks, but one cannot guarantee that without testing.

We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

PCI slots are all but obsolete now. Your next motherboard may not have any PCI slots, and it may only have one available PCIe slot (unless you build your own system).
In general, PCIe audio devices are supposed to have slightly lower latency than Firewire or USB 2.x audio devices. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Firewire is all but gone as well, and USB 3 audio devices may be slow to get to the market, since there's not much call for that bandwidth. Thunderbolt is still pretty much Mac-only, and it's also pretty much overkill for the home studio market.

I second that.BertKoor wrote:Imho there's no advantage in PCIe, and no disadvantage in PCI. Other than your next mobo might not have any PCI slot, but only PCIe
