At MusicDevelopments own FAQ it states that the Microsoft GS Wavetable will likely cause problems when running RapidComposer.
The following website shows how to install VirtualMidiSynth from Coolsoft.

Do I need to instal VirtualMidiSynth?
As I understand it I would then need to find a General Midi Sound font (any suggestions?)that is not too big that VirtualMidiSynth can then use to make midi instrument sounds.
I really am a nooby with this computer sound stuff.
Am I on the right track at least with the possible problems with the MS wavetable?

If you want to use sound fonts, RC already has some very usable sounds built in.
Personally I have not had problems when using the MS Wavetable snth, however, I rarely use this device.
Instead, I recommend searching the KVR database of VST synths. There is a gold mine of freebies in the database.
I would use VST's instead of either the MS Wavetable or sound fonts (although sound fonts are good. Many are natural sounding.)
The best advice I can give you is to read about the technologies to better understand what they are and do.
And ask questions. The best way to learn how to swim, MixedUpNoise, is to jump in.
Happy Musiking!

Using "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" won't cause problems in itself, just please don't use it together with soundfont or VSTi tracks because they won't be in sync...
