Hello,

a quick question on downloads: now that the Pro version seems to get more recent updates, does it work also as free version (as beta and without the additional pro features)?

Or will the install files for non pro and pro stay different?

The Pro/Free version are the same binary. The pro features are enabled/disabled in the settings page, and require you to purchase a license after a reasonable eval period.
Right now there are two binary downloads, since the 2.1 series is considered "beta" for the reason that is contains new and features that have not been as thoroughly tested yet. But it is not an exclusive "pro" version. Many of the new features of the 2.1 series are useable in free mode as well, such as the new, better filters, HQ sample rendering (though only per-instance configurable).
