There are a number of references to the fact that TX16Wx's XML files are relatively easy to translate -- for example to SF2 or SFZ. But I haven't been able to find a reference to an actual product (freeware or payware) that does this.

If this has been done, where can I find it? If not, why not? Other than the problem that the TX16Wx format includes features that can't be translated to formats that don't have equivalent features, it looks fairly easy.

Thanks in advance, and my apologies if I missed a bunch of threads that answer this question.

Sorry, but if you have got the instruments loaded in TX16Wx why not carry on using them there? Especially as, as you said, the advanced features of TX16Wx cannot (easily, if at all) be translated into SF2 / SFZ.

DarkStar, thanks for your response. There are a gazillion SFZ players. There are another gazillion samplers that import SFZ instruments and convert them to something else. There don't seem to be any solid SFZ samplers/instrument editors. Or maybe I'm missing something (else) really basic. How do most folks design and edit SFZ instruments?

does it

http://www.derknott.de/tx2sfz.zip

is a vst version which does not seem to work for everybody.

please give feedback, if it does, what you want. For me it is THE solution. I even translated the hang sample for logic exs-sampler to sfz, because newest tx16wx can read it, so it was possible to feed it into tx2sfz.

mccy, thank you. I will look at this.

Since my original post, I have found at least two samplers that claim to export to SFZ -- Wusik Station and Disco DSP Highlife. Neither is much fun as an instrument editor, and it appears that the exported SFZ instruments leave something to be desired.

I am just getting started with this, but it is already clear that TX16Wx is a fabulous sampler.

mccy, I found this earlier thread, and posted my question there:
