Sorting items in file browser

I noticed that the sorting seems to be random in the file browser. It's not alphabetical, by size, modification date, or anything. How to I sort this alphabetically?

File browser is rendered in the order the file system lists files, which is usually alphabetically, but to be fair, not guaranteed by any means.
OS? OS Version?

I'm running wine on linux. So it could be some linux-related screwyness. I noticed the files lists were out of whack on shortcircuit for me, too.
