heres what ive managed to do so far with some help (as i know nothing about how to actually do it) but it sounds a bit iffy...kinda there, but not.
http://www.box.net/shared/hxhqsaxif8
what i would really like, is a bit of help, maybe some pointers in the right direction?
bear in mind im still a noob at SE, and i dont have any commercial modules (this one requires DH signal to PUlse Train i think)
cheers
Dave

It doesn't sound sync-y, I've made 2 intense sync synths, what I do is jack up the sync variable.
One time I routed the output of 3 oscillators(set to different octave and pitches) all into the sync pin of the main osc.
Another way, set pitch of osc1 to -2, sync it to osc2, set that pitch high like to 2 or 3, sync that to osc 3(pitch has to be high here again).

I looked at your example, you're syncing direct(midi-to-cv to sync) and syncing with the pulsetrain to the pitch? Kinda weird, but i didn't check the sound (don't have the pulsetrain module installed).
Maybe this helps:

I built it in SE i think, would be like this:

thanks for the pic, but i dont really get whats going on...3 osc?
i'll read the article later...and i forgot to un-sync the osc from the midi gate, they shouldnt be there (i was testing and left them in i guess)

Just an example nrKriminal wrote:thanks for the pic, but i dont really get whats going on...3 osc?
A master OSC that syncs a slave OSC should be enough, but you can do as many as you want.

That picture does look weird in function, but the wiki page gives me ideas, like altering the waveform from the 1st osc, while playing.

Are you just trying to do the classic osc sync sound? If so, just run the audio output of one osc to the sync input of another. The second osc (the one you ran the output to) will restart everytime the first one starts a new cycle. The most intense sounds will come from setting the second osc to a higher octave and/or semitone tuning and/or mudulating it's pitch.

i tired that many times, but it never sounded right, not 'harsh' enough...synthgeek wrote:Are you just trying to do the classic osc sync sound? i guess im going by some old sounds ive heard on various synths (so may be unreliable) but i'll try it again and see
can i assume both osc should be free running or not?

Doesn't matter if they're free-running or not- you're just making the synched osc restart everytime the master osc rises from zero. That's why it works best with the synched osc in a higher register.Kriminal wrote:i tired that many times, but it never sounded right, not 'harsh' enough...synthgeek wrote:Are you just trying to do the classic osc sync sound? Yes- or, you could use a switch with nothing going to the sync pin for "off". Note that it isn't like FM, where you have a depth to control, it's just on or off.Kriminal wrote:also, to turn on/off i just need a fixed value of zero for 'off' ..yes?

well, it works, obviously, but its not the sound i was hoping for..its not as harsh...i'll have to upload a sample to show you...
or if you have it, try the pro52 supersync preset...?

I don't have Pro52, but I think I know what you're saying- it doesn't have the bite you're looking for. I haven't tried this yet myself, but I think some waveshaping after the second osc (the one being synched) could be the answer. I'm thinking the SE oscs are perhaps too "smooth" to get that really nasty sound on their own.
