Totally new to this whole thing...

I was wondering if anyone could help me out...I'm a drummer working on trying to program samples to play with electronic pads (during live performances and such). I know of the obvious option of using Abelton, BUT as a college student I am looking for a free program haha. If anyone has any info that might help me out please post. Thanks a bunch guys! -nick
