great, thanks a bunch standalone and Lotuzia. usually automate within Logic, but this could be useful.
yes I take the occasion to try to explain more in details the differences between host automation and MidiLinks as we made them :
* In a MidiLink you can assign a Midi Controller, like Mod Wheel, to SEVERAL parameters. So you can make complex or simple, like Cut Off + Rez + Volume , real time control with the same controler. Wich is impossible with host automation.
* A MidiLink can have mimimal and maximal value, ie again for a simple Cut Off you can decide to automate it from the default value to augmented or diminished choosen values. Host automation usually will vary the parameter between 0 and 127 ( Minimum and max values). This doesnt only allow you to make more "subtle" modulations, this is also the ability to be able to revert to the base-default value of the parameter without hassle, ie have a stable preset.
* A MidiLink is available immediatly each time you use a preset, you dont have to set up some special things with automation, and this is the assurance to get the same instrument, with all its real time features, each time you'll use it.
* Some hosts show exposed parameters with real weird names like evf1 or, worse, P1246, so it save you time trying to figure out, or remember, the the P1246 is on fact the decay of the filter enveloppe.
* Some hosts dont display all parameters, and/or are limited to 128 parameters. MidiLinks can access all parameters.
* Some musicians are not familiar with host automation, some hosts handle host automation, copies and pastes in hazardous ways.(or tedious to use)
But, in the end, I think that the more important feature of our MidiLink is that it will give musicians an opportunity to have some real time modulations that they woundnt have choosen themselves ( Ie you could have choosen to automate Cut Off + Rez when we choose to map Filter Enveloppe + Filter Velocity sensitivity ) : So these are just additional possibilities added to pure host automation, optional choices, more liberty, more fun and joy of playing available with a single Mouse Click
SOooOoo I'd say that MidiLinks dont compete with host automation, they just compliment it in a hopefully nice way
