I got myself some really large tubular winchimes and after a first sampling session with them this morning here is an Iris patch using an unprocessed and a processed sample, this patch will be part of set 32 which will be released very soon:

Iris Subscription Set 32 - uploaded on August 7 - 2013 containing 9 presets (164.8 MB) including:

Breathless
S1 uses the sample of A single breath at the end of a vocal phrase, extremely timestretched and furtherly processed. The Modwheel adds temposynced amplitude modulation. Macro 1 controls amount of Delay FX, inverted Macro 2 controls LP cutoff.

Evil Factory
Great for deep drones, strange pads and glitchy noises ( the latter when played in the very high register).
A field recording recorded in the assembly section of a russian car factory extremely timestretched and furtherly processed. S1-3 play different segments and spectral selections of the same long sample. S2 runs in Non-Retrigger mode. The Modwheel adds distortion to S1+2. Macro 1 (x) adds Noise-controlled pitch modulation to S1+2, Macro 2 controls the speed of the (constant) amplitude modulation in S3. Inverted M3 for LP cutoff, M4 controls Reverb Mix.

Factory Slam Loops Split
Using 2 loops split across the keyboard - overlapping split point: C3 (C4 in Iris) - isolated from a field recording I made in a russian car factory in the assembly section, pimped with a transient designer and some other stuff. Modwheel adds distortion, the combfilter's (delay) pitch and amount are controllable with Macros 1+2 (x/y-pad). Macro 3 adds random pitch modulation to S1+2, M4 increases modulation speed.

Female Vocal Trio Split
Three vocal samples from a sampling session with the exceptional contemporary singer Frauke Aulbert, split across the keyboard, S1 (a sustained note) plays up to C3 (C4 in Iris),
S2 (minor third interval with gliss) plays from C#3 to C5 (C6) and S3 (long phrase with alternating intervals) plays from C#5 (C#6) upwards. S1+2 run in Non-Retrigger mode.
A strange Chorus ca be added with the Modwheel, x/y-pad for pitch modulation effects (Macros 1+2), M3 adds Delay FX, M4 adds Reverb FX.

Final Thoughts
A fragment of Verdi's Requem which I recorded backstage in a Moscow concert hall in 2011. The recording was partially retuned and fully processed (GRM and other stuff). S1-3 play different segments and spectral aspects of the same long sample, S3 has a constant temposynced amplitude modulation going on, all oscillators run in Non-Retrigger mode. The Modwheel adds Chorus FX, Macros 1+2 for Delay amount/time, inverted Macro 3 controls LP cutoff.

Glass Voices
Beautiful yet cold voices from a timeless universe...
The involved sample emerged from an experiment processing a physically modelled bell sound (playing a slow tonal impro) with a multiband convolution plugin (Melda). Each of the 3 bands carries a different female female vocal sample (performed by Frauke Aulbert in my studio), the band crossover frequencies are modulated by a slow LFO. Some VVVerb was added in the Mix. S1-3 all use the same long sample, each highlighting different segments and sepctral aspects of this wondrous texture, S2 running in Non-Retrigger mode. The volume of S3 is assigned to the Modwheel, bring it in to add more intervals. Please check the Macro page to see and hear how the 5 assigned Macros modify the sound.

Gliss Vox Pad
The sample of a timestretched vocal sample (a minor third interval connected by a glissando) is used in all 3 oscillators, S1+2 (only playing the first note of the interval) are running in Non-Retrigger mode, S1 has a constant ampllitude modulation going on in order to achieve timbre changes. Bring in S3 - which starts with a gliss and plays the second note of the interval - with the Modwheel. Macros 1-2 control amount of Delay/Reverb/Chorus FX.

Tubular Windchimes
Here is a pic of the tubular windchimes I sampled.
After a first sampling session with some very large tubular winchimes, I made this Iris patch using an unprocessed sample (S1) and a processed version (S2). S1 has a complex spectral selection, S2 plays the entire frequency range. Increase the volume of S2 with the Modwheel. Add random pitch modulation to S1 with the x/y-pad (M1+2), add Noise-controlled pitch modulation to S2 with Macro 3 and control LP cutoff with the inverted Macro 4.

Unfolding Voice
The sample of a strange guttural voice effect (performed by Frauke Aulbert) is used in both oscillators. Add screaming distortion with the Modwheel, M1 (x) controls amount of Reverb FX, M2 (y) adds pan modulation to both oscillators, M3 adds Chorus FX.

Border Crows
S1 plays the sample of a field recording of crows and other sounds recorded at the border of the Ukraine to Belarus in 2011 where soldiers removed our film team from a charter train, because we didn't have transit visa, quite a frightening experience that was. S2+3 play different spectral aspects of a huge soundscape derived from a vibraphone recording. The volume of S3 is assigned to the Modhweel, it adds the upper frequencies of the vibra scape. All samples run in Non-Retrigger mode. Macro 1 (x) adds crazy pitch modulation to S1, M2 (y) adds temposynced amplitude modulation to S2. M3 controls the depth of the pan modulation in S3, M4 (inverted) controls LP filter cutoff.

Cranebells
2 long field recordings of a giant container crane recorded in the harbour of Kaliningrad, whenever the crane moved there was this alarm bell ringing, I was standing right underneath the crane moving with it as it hovered along the pier. S1+2 play 2 samples with the tonal bell sounds, S3 plays a hydraulic sound at the end of the sample 1 which doesn't react to Midi pitch but is pitch modulated by a slow LFO. Bring in S3 with the Modwheel. Please check the Macro page to understand how the 5 assigned Macros modify the sound.

Doomer (Split)
2 samples of a (multisampled) huge drone made with MachFive 3 combining synth modules with convoluted vocal texures - split point: B2/C3
Modwheel adds fast pitch modulation to S2 (the upper sample), Macros 1+2 (x/y) for Delay FX and distortion, M3 controls LP cutoff (inverted).

New Age Dreamer
A sequence produced with several instances of Synplant and FX, different segments and spectral aspects of the same sample are used in all 3 oscillators. The Modwheel adds fast square-shaped pitch modulation to all samples, with the wheel fully up you'll get a modulation of +1/2 octaves. S3 plays in Non-Retrigger mode. Please check the Macro page to understand how the 5 assigned Macros modify the sound.

Rise and Fall
All 3 oscillators use the same sample of a passing/accelerating sports car recorded underneath a bridge - timestretched and furtherly processed. S3 runs in Non-Retrigger mode. The Modwheel decreases LP filter cutoff and adds distortion. Macro 1 (x) adds amplitude modulation to S1+2, control LFO speed with M2 (y), M3 controls the speed of the pan modulation in S3.

Supernova
Look at the stars at night and then this happens: a sample produced by resynthesizing a processed vocal texture in Metasynth, retuning the resynthesized data and then playing back the result with a huge soundscape sample, randomizing the sample start points and doing other things to it as well. All oscillators play different spectral aspects and segments of the same long sample. The Modwheel increases the volume of S3 and slightly reduces the volume of S1, Macro 1 (x) adds distortion, M2 (y) adds Delay FX, inverted M3 controls LP filter cutoff, M4 adds temposynced amplitude modulation to all 3 samples.

Celtic Grains Split
A celtic harp note granulated with crusherX, S1+2 are split over the keyboard, both play different segments and spectral selections of the same long sample - overlapping split: C3
The inverted Modwheel controls LP filter cutoff, Macro 1 (x) adds temposynced amplitude modulation, M2 (y) controls amount of Chorus FX, M3 controls amount of Delay FX.

Convoluted MetaHit
S1+2 both play different segments and spectral selections of the same long sample, made by sending a physically modelled tube hit (Chromaphone) through a multiband convolution reverb, each band carrying a different soundscapish texture made with Metasynth, processing the result with RX3, timestretching only some segments of the sample.
The Modwheel adds pitch modulation to both oscillators using different LFO shapes and speeds. Macro 1 (x) controls the amount of Delay FX using very short delay times at high feedback rates sounding similar to a Combfilter, modulate the delay time with M2 (y) for flanging effects. Macro 3 adds a strange reverb with maximum predelay.

Gongclash Pure
2 Thai gongs clashing several times, both oscillators use the same sample and spectral selection, S2 plays in reverse mode. The Modwheel adds distortion, reduces LP cutoff, increases LP resonance and activates the global LFO for slow cutoff modulation. Macro 1 (x) controls amount of temposynced Delay FX, M2 (y) reverb amount, M3 adds pitch modulation to S1, M4 adds Chorus FX, M5 adds pitch modulation to S2. This sound produces some incredibly low frequencies at the lower end of you master keyboard, let your subwoofer(s) have some fun as well.

Gongclash Stretch
The recording of 2 Thai gongs clashing several times extremely timestretched and enriched with Paulstretch. All 3 oscillators play different segments and spectral selections of the same long sample. The Modwheel reduces LP filter cutoff and adds Chorus FX, Macros 1+2 (x/y) control amount of pitch modulation for S1+2 and modulation speed. M3 controls amount of Delay FX.

Mighty Ship Bells
A processed shipbell texure retuned to an indian scale in Melodyne. S1+2 both play different segments and spectral selections of the same long sample, S2 running in non-retrigger mode. The Modwheel adds temposynced amplitude modulation to both oscillators (different speeds and LFO shapes).

Shipbell Pad
The sample of a long shipbell texure is used in both oscillators, S1 has a very narrow spectral selection resulting in a tonal pad sound, the volume of S2 with the reversed bell texture is assigned to Macro 3, Macros 1+2 control amount of Delay/Reverb FX. The Modwheel adds a tad of pitch modulation to S1.
