I went through all the presets last night.
Lots of different sounds, which is good. Lots of quality patches.
Thanks for sharing.
One suggestion though. Try setting the pitchwheel to 0, for sounds where pitch bending isn't necessary, then use it in the mod matrix to assign it to something. This gives the user something extra to play with. Also useful to those without aftertouch. Though some aftertouch assigned is good as well, if possible.

Hey . Thanks for the input. Yeah, I've been focusing mostly on immediate impressions and designing these patches for people with very basic midi controllers as I have only a cheap setup myself. Once I hit up to 220 patches, I should go through everything and add more aftertouch/pitchbend routings. I've already been adding expression and aftertouch routings on a bunch of new presets that aren't included in the link. Particularly so with the new sequence and loop patches.mcnoone wrote:I went through all the presets last night.

Now at 210. Here's the link:
Download here: (latest 'beta' 2-2-15)
https://app.box.com/s/u7jrsos1ww9axbherrbcrh2umnhx9j3j
Still need to add more aftertouch, expression and pitchbend settings, and reduce the volume. Also still need to add more sounds, particularly in the EDM folder.

Hi Xenos, i promises to give you feedback and only last night i have time to try all of the sound.
Impression :
Out of the 180 (the number of patch at the time), i find 130 is usable for my music. That's good enough value for me since that mean your patch is quite diverse, unlike other EDM soundbank which usually only contain less than 50% usable patch.
I would have like more arp and seq for the soundbank just for variation. I'm not good at using the Arp, so i like to copy other people's pattern and save it to Hive.
Overall, good work.

I listened to your patches and i like them very much. A lot of cool sounds indeed.
But I have to confess that I'm really new to sound design with synths and I actually don't know what all parameters are for. I'm just playing around with some parameters and listening what is happening (Try and error).
Are there also some deep house stabbing sounds planned? Have been on your website and there are some but for Diva only.
Is it possible to create something like a brass horn with Hive (like Ten Walls - Walking with elephants) uses. Found one horn in some of the beta-presets but it not that suitable for a bassline? Maybe i can modulate it any way. Will try it out.
Thx

Not easy - Hive isn't a sampler, and that's a sampled horn.hihu wrote:Is it possible to create something like a brass horn with Hive (like Ten Walls - Walking with elephants) uses?
Q: Do you have any specific examples of "deep house stabbing sounds"?

Probably means chords - for deep house these commonly include major and minor ninths.Howard wrote:Q: Do you have any specific examples of "deep house stabbing sounds"?
Without note stacking there isn't an easy way to make single key chord hits of more than four notes in Hive, and those ninths need five. Six note chords are possible, though...

Thanks for your reply
I saw on his homepage those kind of sounds which I like very much:
Late Night Deep House Chords
http://xenossoundworks.com/diva.html
@Howard
Yes I also thought this must be sampled because it sounds very natural.
This guy here recreates the sound with sampling
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waGhIUoyIl8
But then I found this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Qs4U6VrVU
It starts at 4:39 and right after this is also a example for this deep house lead.
its like a piano with this hard attack (or how you say) like when you press the key from your piano. And it contains a lot of minor keys.
Also at the beginning of this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aBY1ejWECY
These sounds are also very cool.

@hakey: Yeah I found the french Horn sound from Dumbledog.
Thank you very much will try this out when I'm at home.
Yeah you are right they use all minor chords. I played piano for serveral years now but as I said I'm very new to digital music production.
I watched some tutorials on youtube about synth and sound design and found out that you actually have to raise or lower semitones at the oscillators to get these minors (logic of course). But until now I have not figured out how to do this in Hive.
I do like reverse engineering take the preset and then take a look how this was made.

I've already made some chord stabs in the "Electronic Dance Music" folder (the patches with the suffix "CH"). I'll check out the videos later, but definitely not gonna go for an exact match, as those sounds are someone else's work.

I was messing with Diva a while ago to get a similar sound to that brassy horn from this lovely song. Not very realistic but sounded quite close in a mix imhohihu wrote:Is it possible to create something like a brass horn with Hive (like Ten Walls - Walking with elephants) uses. Latest "beta" 2-14-15. Balanced out all the volumes, added more new presets, AND polished up a lot of the EDM patches as I felt many of those needed it.

This is how I typically work - get the general ideas out first, then go back and add polish. Now we just need to add the final step: Adding additional MIDI hookups, some chord stabs, and one last quality-control check on the entire final draft.
