polacs project seems to involve only wrapping the psycle plugins into VST though. although that's nice, it won't bring us a tracker VST...

Post

you might want to contact [JAZ] (Psycle's coders team leader) concerning Psycle wrapper, or drop a message on Psycle's site boards. i'm sure people could be interested. http://psycle.pastnotecut.org.

Frank [Polak] is just wrapping the psycle plugs into vst, but not the sequencer.

@ Jaltho_
Yep. Really, I'd like to see tracktion wrapped into buzz :P

should I give up wishing for such a vst?

I'm still working on something, but it's going very very slow at the moment. Jaltoh hooked me up with the pattern editor he wrote, and I've adapted it a bit.. but I have definately realized this is a bit more involved than I thought. So it's going slow.

I'm at the point where I'm thinking about attepting to reduce it into a much smaller plug first.. with the hopes of building it into something that functions like a full tracker over time. My initial thoughts are to attempt making a beat manipulation tool.

Basically you can record a specified number of bars of audio into the plugin's sampler. Then you'd have something like Unwieldy Tracker in Buzz that could manipulate that sample.. with retrigs, offsets, note delays, cuts, and what not. If I could manage to get something like this working, then I think the next step in building a tracker would by easier. I have realized just in the process of working on this.. that I definately have to start with a smaller concept.

It makes me wish I hadn't let my c++ skills deteriorate.. becuase I've aquired a lot of tracker source code in cpp, but reading it makes my head hurt. Delphi is so much easier... :?

LOL  they both make my head hurt. But I'm much more comfortable with C++.
