Apple creator code

Do I still need to register a unique "creator code" with Apple for my Audio Units plug-ins? Apple's own tutorial says I do. However, if I follow the link to the Data Type Registration page, then I get redirected to another page that doesn't even mention "creator code".

I have asked on CoreAudio mailing list. If I figure something out will repost it here.

This feature seems to be "dead".... I got this answer http://lists.apple.com/archives/coreaud ... 00023.html
Yeah. You go back to 1999 and get it it from the apple developer site.
It doesn't exist any more. Use what you will.

As far as I know, if you supply the info, the system will still use it to display program and file icons, and launch the proper application when double clicking files.

Haha... Well, actually you don't need to go back that far, because it still worked in 2010. And I guess Apple might want to update their own AU tutorial then.tomicious wrote:Yeah. You go back to 1999 and get it it from the apple developer site.
Anyway, thanks for asking, tomicious. I guess will just need to make one up then, because AFAIK we really do still need one, e.g. to pass to auval for validation.
