I never think of music as weird but this one of my favourite covers - much better and more heartfelt than the original.

Thank you for that statement.incubus wrote:All the rap crap and autotune disgustithon.
I have no f**king clue why that is so popular other than people are lemmings.
It occurred to me during this thread that all that present day crap strikes me as being most weird. Maybe there is another kind of cancer we need to look at?
A few miles from me police are digging up bodies. Some nut found a good reason to kill 4 young men and bury them on his property. Is that weird?

A good deal of the music I love (and occasionally make ) might be said to have some weirdness to it.
Others might consider it to be the weirdest (whatever the hell that means) but to me it's just part of the human component of this wonderful activity.
I know there are still at least a few of us at KVR who aren't scared away by looking at music we like from different angles and hearing the opinions of those who might enjoy stuff that is a little less weird.

Any random Bach fugue or chorale -- there's just something deeply bizarre about four parts which are completely equal yet nonetheless only do mathematical variants/transformations on each other, mechanically working off some abstract plan. (Sorry, Einstein, the gods do play dice with the universe.)
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

I don't even what the word "weird" means in a musical context. Something unfamiliar? I've heard some nasty-ass old delta blues that's very odd to me - and the kids who really picked up on that like Bill Harkleroad and John French got extremely odd, but it's still guitars and drums. I like qaw'wali; that's odd and unfamiliar to me, but what it is at the end is the power of the human voice. I like gamelan orchestras, but I've listened to so much of it that is no longer unfamiliar.
I think that if you hear something "weird" that is a good indication that you should listen to more of it.
Something (probably) unfamiliar - weird, I don't think so.

Never heard of.
Not my definition of weird though, I'd call it creative or inventive. Nevertheless, awesome. Thanks for the link.

Anything by Adele. I mean how can something so watered down sell in such huge quantities, it is complete weird.
