Why would one want to upgrade the iLok software? I don't get it. Is the old software going to not work soon? What is the attraction? Its new iLok aroma?

OH NEVERMIND/E. Litella

I see there are NEW features. I'm glad I don't have but the one thing that needs it.

There are new features indeed, but even more than that, you no longer have to rely on browser support. iLok.com was always very bad with only working in a very select group of browser versions(Firefox and Chrome, for instance, didn't work).

That, and the ability finally to delete licenses(or deactivate them, but it seems to be the same thing) and organize your licenses is fantastic indeed.

No problems here. All licenses accounted for & working fine.

BELIEVE IN SOFTWARE FREEDOM
Since iLok2, WiBu dongle and the current incarnation of eLicencer are still the only three uncracked forms of software protection, saying what you said there - and this applies to all dongle haters - is almost the same as saying you support piracy.

You see, the necessity of using dongles is not some developer conspiracy against the paying customers; it is their desperate attempt to protect their efforts and remain in business.

Get rid of dongles and you'll destroy a significant chunk of the industry, which means less cool tools for all of us.

Dongles are not our problem; crime is.
+1

I have elicencer (cubase) and ilok (East West, Arturia) and never had a problem in 6 years. In an ideal world they wouldnt be needed, but they are.

Calling software developers money-hungry-rich-fat people is beyond ridiculous, I'm sure many will agree on this.
I think he was being ironic, because of the prevalance of anti-ilok loudmouthery here(*). Hence the comment about 'how the theme goes here'.

(*) Basically here its like the equivalent of a cooking forum where every thread eventually gets hijacked by a couple of dicks yelling "I dont eat dairy products. Dont eat dairy products. Cheese is the devil." Its f**king tiresome.
my other modular synth is a bugbrand
