well so long as they dont get pissy about it when someone starts pirating their tracks
if for example we saw a vid of metallica using a cracked copy of protools, then there would be blood!!!

Not to actually promote it - but here is the question:vurt wrote:well so long as they dont get pissy about it when someone starts pirating their tracks

If the musician steals from the developers, is it okay to steal from the musician as well?
There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

yeah its fine to steal from thieves, unfortunately the thieves in question make questionable music that i wouldnt want in my collection even if it where free and they hand delivered it.

The reality is looking different however...vurt wrote:Compyfox wrote:Not to actually promote it - but here is the question:vurt wrote:well so long as they dont get pissy about it when someone starts pirating their tracks

If the developers don't pursue both the distributor of FM and the artist in question - nothing will happen.
But... the artist in question, or better it's label, covers the creations by the musician. So if you got catched to download a torrent or something - you're the one being sued for a hefty ammount, and not the musician.
It's like fighting fire with fire. Doesn't work this way.
We as legit paying customers are always the idiots. So it's good to bring attention to this. But I have a feeling that this one will be closed in a couple of pages and then forgotten in the vast spaces of the archives.

i was joking, but they are in effect i receipt of stolen goods, which in the uk is a crime that doesnt require a complaint by the people good are stolen from. it just requires you to own stolen goods. i dont know who any of these people are or where they are situated, although i get the feeling avicii isnt a uk resident, he looks too happy i the pics ive seen.Compyfox wrote:The reality is looking different however...vurt wrote:Compyfox wrote:Not to actually promote it - but here is the question:vurt wrote:well so long as they dont get pissy about it when someone starts pirating their tracks

I hadn't heard of him so I viewed his wikipedia page to get some info and came to the same conclusion..
He has singles entitled 'Keygen', 'Registration Code', 'Torrent', 'Trojan' ( ) and 'Error 404' (I guess after the pirate site is pulled).

Isn't that a different quality of crime?
Not more the anxious producer hidden in his studio so that no one can see him using the cracks but a producer who openly makes songs about piracy and shows cracks in his videos?

Maybe it's time to add a "piracy controversy" section to his Wikipedia entry. The references should be easy. Perhaps that'll get some attention...
Ah, hell, he'll just pay somebody to delete it. (Oh, the irony!)
