Pff, going by the thread title is so last year
EDIT: Plus, the asterisks can be interpreted as a 'wildcard' which means it can mean anything you want it to. I like to think of it as the word "why" drawn out with anguished interrobangs.

Damn that A&R man!Tricky-Loops wrote:And a bit of luck (to get the right connections)... Calvin Harris, for example, spent many years with sending out demos to record labels, without any success, even without many responses. If he wouldn't have been "discovered" by a certain A & R manager accidentally, he still would be unknown, making music in his bed room.Uedi wrote:and promotion is the key. and the right connections as well.

What did you just say?Tricky-Loops wrote:But in this case, isn't it courageous from him to mix country music with trance?
Too bad I can have only one line of quote in signature.
Now you're talking sense. There are many better (and worse) artists, Avicii just turned out to be lucky. With the right promotion, most tracks in the KVR Music Cafe could be successful in the United States, too. If they would play them everywhere in the radio and praise them in advertisements, people would like them...
Without the steady promotion of his record label, nobody would know "Avicii" Tim Bergling.

That 'house' cost 16 million dollars.....
Is that like selling 16 million songs on ITunes???

Only assuming that you get 100% of revenue in and not 10.osiris wrote:That 'house' cost 16 million dollars.....

Buying a house doesn't mean paying the whole 16 millions at once. The money could be borrowed, too...

Well Im sure a HUGE chunk of it is borrowed, yeah.
But still, how much do you think a kid DJ has to put down on 16mil? Still more than makes any sense.
And how sure does a bank have to be of an incoming 16mil to even allow it?
Ugh. Makes me want to spit.
edit:
Ok, well he does at least have a few more releases than I thought-

What does the fox say?Tricky-Loops wrote:I couldn't agree less...chk071 wrote:I highly doubt that. It is not all about promotion, it is about style, sense for music and much skill. If you don't have that, you can do as much promotion as you want, your music will suck. Not that i want to say that the music in the music café sucks, but you in most cases you can hear the difference between a professional, and a semi-pro or amateur production.Tricky-Loops wrote:With the right promotion, most tracks in the KVR Music Cafe could be successful in the United States, too.
I rather listen to the music of the KVR Music Café than to Avicii tracks, same thing applies to Martin Garrix & Co. In fact I wouldn't know Martin Garrix at all if I wouldn't have read his name here in a thread... (thanks, Smartfusion... )
