And a bit of luck (to get the right connections)... Calvin Harris, for example, spent many years with sending out demos to record labels, without any success, even without many responses. If he wouldn't have been "discovered" by a certain A & R manager accidentally, he still would be unknown, making music in his bed room.

I highly doubt that. It is not all about promotion, it is about style, sense for music and much skill. If you don't have that, you can do as much promotion as you want, your music will suck. Not that i want to say that the music in the music café sucks, but you in most cases you can hear the difference between a professional, and a semi-pro or amateur production.

I couldn't agree less...

I rather listen to the music of the KVR Music Café than to Avicii tracks, same thing applies to Martin Garrix & Co. In fact I wouldn't know Martin Garrix at all if I wouldn't have read his name here in a thread... (thanks, Smartfusion... )
