Max4Live / Push integration getting started help

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get started with M4L and particularly the Push integration?

I'm familiar with:

... and Max in general (Ie I can make midi and audio devices that do stuff), but I'm having trouble just getting started with addressing the push.

I'd like to accomplish 2 things:

1) Be able to store the scale settings inside a project

2) Automate changing the scales ... the push is cool for messing around with chords, but the lack of a concept of "chord progression," makes me not use it and a keyboard instead, especially for sections where the chords change rapidly.

I'm a programmer so if I can just get a bit of starting documentation I should be able to take it from there...
