Like a lobotomized Trapp Family Singers, the Shaggs warble earnest greeting-card lyrics (...) in happy, hapless quasi-unison along ostensible lines of melody while strumming their tinny guitars like someone worrying a zipper. The drummer pounds gamely to the call of a different muse, as if she had to guess which song they were playing - and missed every time

Their father took them out of school, harassed and abused them to force them to “make music,” hoping to hit it rich off that new rock and roll fad. Since they didn’t have one iota of knowledge about music, the girls invented their own music. An amazing otherworldly music like nothing anyone’s ears have ever experienced! And being that they were young girls, this music had a great innocence to it, coming through guitar bass and drums. Now I don’t just mean they wrote songs, but that they reinvented music almost in an autistic way. Not knowing their back story early on, it’s amazing that this was created under duress. Everyone that heard it thought it was just the bizarre childish ramblings of the weirdest teens on earth! And they were, but still…

It might be. I don't think that I could play that. I think that I'd have to work really hard to achieve timing that consistently inconsistent. I'm talking about the shaggs here, not the rapper, although, her timing is also off.

I lost my shit at 2:21, when they went into the chorus trainwreck-style, they missed their mark on so many levels, it's fractally bad.

I always feel a bit mean for finding humour in these kinds of videos, because often the people in them seem nice and just a bit mislead.

Absolutely, that's kind of the point of the thread. Let's explore people's opinions about what is good and what is bad and ask people to think about their music judgements with respect to their own music.

It's pretty easy to choose stuff that's really good and say "this is way better than me." But if we ramp down until we get to those things that we think are at the bottom then perhaps we have to be a bit careful before we claim our own music is better? At the very least, we might have to point to specific things. We also have to address why something that is bad might be viewed as good by others and vice versa.

Post videos of bad music, intentional or not, say something about them. Some people will just try to post the funniest stuff, some people will post some insightful commentary, it's all ok.

Is your music better or worse than this?
