Driven Machine Drums STRIKES BACK!
2072 Premium Designer Drum Samples

"What if a time-capsule was discovered that contained never before heard drum machines with
the classic character of the 909, 808, 707, SP1200, Drumulator, and Linns..."

"What if Don Buchla created a drum machine..."

"What if that time-capsule also contained a drum machine from the future..."

These are the questions I had in mind, a game I played, during the creation
of Driven Machine Drums Strikes Back.

> > >

I love the question "What if?".
For me it's a perfect question to ask when being creative. It clears blocks
and opens creative possibilities.

In this case, the question paved the way for a wide variety of new drum
textures that are simultaneously familiar and completely fresh.

I like that moment in the mind when two completely opposing concepts are
both true and valid. Can a sample be both clean AND dirty?

So, beyond philosophical discussion/masturbation, allow me to quickly point
out the cliff-notes on why I think this new content is worthy of your
attention.

- lots of new inspiring sounds, exclusive to this collection
- perfectly edited and organized
- synthesized with the mixing and mastering stages in mind
(typically getting -13dB RMS with no limiting or compression on a drum bus)
- synthesized for the creative artist
(textural changes purposefully anticipate various envelope settings to
increase the possible variations while sounding authentic)

24-bit/96kHz WAV and AIF
16-bit/44.1kHz WAV (optimally dithered/SRC with 8 character names for classic samplers)
22 Guru/Geist Kits
EXS-24/Kontakt mappings (Deluxe Edition)

If you are utilizing any electronic based percussion, take a couple minutes to
listen to a few examples and read more about the library.

Nathaniel, you forgot the most important bit of info people need to know.
P.S. Buy this library.

P.S.S. Seriously.
:hihi:

I already loved the first DMD but I think I am going to love this one even more!

Excellent job! :tu:

That are nice news! :tu:

Will all DMD packages(DMD 1.5, HiFi 909 etc) also be available as complete bundle?

DMDSB is really good! I've been using it for a couple of weeks and I find it a good addition to the first library. In fact, I prefer it to DMD because the sounds are more up my street.

When I'm building unique sounds for my tracks, DMD and DMDSB are almost always used. Of course you can always use them "as is" if you don't roll your own. They contain some really essential/useful elements and aren't all 'squared off' (maximized) like other libraries.

Congrats on the release Nathaniel!

That's what I would like to know as well. I only have the first release and want the others. So are all the releases from Tonebuilder DMD, DMD 1.5 and HiFi 909? Or are there any others he's released?

HiFi 909 was released after DMD, then later included in DMD 1.5. The v1.5 expansion also included the HiFi Miami.

Since DMD was always going to be a limited amount of copies, it's not likely you will ever be able to get these again.

Confusing, so next to HiFI 909 is also HiFi Miami? Never read till now about HiFi Miami.

So, ToneBuilder has:
DMD 1.5(HiFi Miami included)
HiFi 909
DMD Strikes back!

So far as i know, i have only DMD 1.0, an upgrade option to the hole package(DMD 1.5 + HiFi 909 + DMD Strikes Back) would be very cool to have

The timeline was
- DMD
- HiFi 909
- DMD 1.5, basically DMD + additional samples including HiFi Miami (never released separately) + HiFi 909

I think Nathaniel pulled HiFi 909 after including it in DMD 1.5 but I'm not too sure.

DMD 1.5 was a paid "upgrade" to the original release. I did a little of that one here http://rekkerd.org/review-driven-machin ... -expanded/

The idea was always to have the libraries available in limited edition, so again - since DMD/DMD 1.5 sold out - you won't be able to get these samples anymore. It wouldn't make sense to re-release them in a bundle.

In other words, if you're interested get DMD Stikes Back before it runs out :hihi:

I took a quick look at the email Nathaniel sent out in mid-2010 about DMD 1.5. It doesn't look as though the upgrade was time-limited for owners of 1.0 - I just hit the purchase link to see if it was still active and it is. If you didn't get the email, contact Nathaniel.

f**king awesome library been using for a month or more as previous DMD library owners got an early adoption scheme
I dont think i need anything else than these 2 libraries as the real magic happens when you layer the sounds together to produce a new sound.Hi end quality. recommended +++

Thanks Risome and Audiosabre, good to hear!

And thanks to Ronnie and Gamma-UT for
your help : ) appreciate it.

Their information is correct. DMD is obviously
sold-out. DMD 1.5 is not available separately,
nor will it be repackaged or bundled in the future.
If you bought DMD and didn't get the upgrade,
the content is still available.

Crossed the 200 mark on DMDSB, some very
positive comments coming in. Thanks to
everyone for their support thus far!

DMDSB Envelope Test 11MB WAV

Here is an example of using envelopes to obtain a large amount of variations
from ONE sample.

This is an important aspect of DMDSB. The samples included are purposefully
synthesized and/or processed for the maximum amount of flexibility and sculpting.
Like I said, I wanted you to feel like you owned these new machines.

The envelope test showcases one of the samples included in the demo folder.
Notice how fluid the changes occur. You may notice it sounding not unlike a
compressor. However, the transients and body retain their focus. No holes.

So, the 2072 samples included is a bit deceptive. Ultimately it took more
work per sound, about 4 times is my estimate. I could have easily included
8000 static sounds by taking snapshots and fluffing the content. Having
the complete sound is ultimately more creative while being elegant. Less
is more, no fat, blah blah...

check it out, it DLs quick.
