Hi guys,

Remember we said to save your pennies cos we had something big planned? Well, this is it :D

Jennings Mk 2 is a "timewarp" instrument, taking 1950s valve synthesiser technology as found on the Jennings Univox and reimagining it as a fully-fledged analogue polysynth in the style of Roland's early 80s offerings. Instead of a faithful recreation of the 50s original, this is a complete reinvention, taking the evocative, haunting valve sound of the hardware machine and harnessing it to a synth architecture massively more capable than the original. Complex, evolving, organic sounds just flood out of this thing – it's a sound-designer or synth fanatic's powerhouse 8)

Take a look at the specs to see what we mean:
  • Four oscillators (two main valve oscs with shapeable waveforms; one retro-fitted analogue main osc with classic analogue waveforms; one valve sub-osc).
Four multimode filters (one per main oscillator plus one multimode switchable 2/4 pole global filter with resonance and envelope).
Multiple LFOs with selectable shape, including a smoothed random.
Dual Jennings wave-shaper tab bars running in parallel on oscs 1 and 2, to craft the sound.
    Auto-Bend (yay!).
    Controllable percussive key-click.
And loads more – effects, envelopes, mixer, our Glitch button for generating musically-sensible random patches... the works.
Jennings Mk2 excels at complex, evolving synth sounds with a unique valve tonality; but can also bring that evocative nostalgic tone to bear on classic synth patches to give your mix a dusty, crusty edge. It comes with a stack of patches demonstrating its capabilities. As always we've got audio demos for you. Here's a quick run-through of some of the factory* patches:

Jennings Mk2 is available at an introductory special offer price of £24.95, but will revert to its full retail price of £29.95 soon, so grab it fast before it time warps back to its own parallel 50s dimension :D It requires Kontakt 4.2.3 or later to run (including all versions of Kontakt 5).

Happy music making!

Why thank you :D

There's now a second audio demo up on the website showing how it sounds in a mix. Plus we've sorted out a bundle deal for anyone who either (a) has bought our original Jennings and wants a loyalty discount on this, or (b) wants to buy Jennings and Jennings Mk2 together and save a wodge of cash on the pair :tu:

If you've already bought both, don't panic – we're not not leaving you out in the cold! You can get a refund or a freebie. Drop me an email and we'll sort you out :D

You can still benefit from the deal after you've bought one of them by the looks of it. :)

Was playing with this all evening, making some wonky, warbling loops. Had a couple running at the same time slightly out of tune with each other. Managed to get some almost Mind Over Mirrors-like stuff without needing any extra dirt fx.

RR is on a roll lately!
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

Exactly. Leave no man behind! :D

Nice of you to put it that way, rather than, say, calling it an obsessive compulsive synth disorder

I love pads. A really good pad sound can be a synth's finest hour, and it's something synths do better than anything else (bar perhaps a string section, but even then I'd be tempted to reach for a string synth first  ). I'm convinced the main trick for pads is just LOADS OF LFOS! :hihi:
