Ta da! Yes it's true. VIP2 coming out in April, 8GB of RAM, 3.3GHz dual-core processor, I/O similar to the TRIO. Its actually very much like the TRIO only with a less powerful processor, and it does not come with the PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL interface bundled with it… it is an option.
Same price as the previous model… $1699 US MAP, or $2099 with the PreSonus AudioBox included with it.

Those are precisely the specs I'm looking for! (Especially with SSD) Pushes the G.A.S. Pedal for sure.
Do you expect to offer a trade-in path from, say, a Rec 2 Pro Max to the VIP2?
