Has any one ever seen a
Sample accurate volume envelope follower

I would like to copy a sample accurate volume envelope of one item wave form and paste it on another. This example comes close.

but its not as tight as i would like. imagine taking a sample accurate drum loop and pasting over a pad loop that's the same length. With the end result the pad having the EXACT same wave form as the drum loop. Same sharp transients

i would think its possible for this to be created in

It is indeed possible to write a small plug-in using Plug'n Script to do that. I guess the best way would be to write a script that uses the side chain input for analysis and then applies the envelope to the source signal.

However I am not sure you could do much better, as following the envelope of a signal in real time is not perfect (you either follow the waveform too closely or not fast enough, but this is signal-dependent).

what about in a 'audio suite' situation
in protools

"you either follow the waveform too closely or not fast enough, but this is signal-dependent)" could you elaborate?

Envelope computation in real time will follow as closely as possible but is not 100% accurate depending on the content and release time.

You could indeed use an AudioSuite plugin to do this on an audio segment, but our plug'n Script API will not give you access the whole file. A two pass process would be necessary (first analyze then apply the envelope).
