EDIT: I ended up buying Amplitube 3 so changed the topic title to cover the product, not just the Jimi Hendrix model.
I currently have PODFarm acting as my main amp sim, but Amplitube Jimi Hendrix is on sale for a couple days more and I am thinking about getting it and am just curious about opinions on the bundle. I am not sure how much I'll use all the stomp boxes but for the amps alone vs the price of buying any of them individually it is tempting. I also like the idea of buying effects individually as I need them and with so many Ik points laying around it gives me an opportunity to get them relatively cheap.
PODFarm already has a lot more sims and effects than I would get with the Hendrix bundle but I have V1 and it is limited in how many of what type of effect you are using and how you can arrange them, and it is 32 bit so bridged in Reaper *but works fine). It is $99 to upgrade to the newest version which just seems stupid to me, so I guess I am ready to move on. Amplitube to my ears sound warmer, and of course I'll still own PODFarm if I ever need it.
Anyhow, to buy or not buy, that is the question. Any thoughts?

Nothing against Amplitube, but I prefer S-Gear and use it more often.
The Hendrix sale is going to end soon, and I'm 99.99% sure that you'll see it again on sale in the future. IIRC Musiciansfriend had a similar price last year.
I almost bought it just to use my JamPoints. As usual, you can't use JamPoints on sale products
S-Gear gives you less amps and effects, but the quality is impressive. It's not well suited for modern metal and very high gain sounds, though. Try the demo.

Well According to Ikmultimedia site, Amplitube 3 includes Amplitube Metal and Jimi Hendrix, and if I recall correctly, I saw a 2nd had amplitube on market place for 80 bucks...

"here's an AmpliTube for you
AmpliTube 3 is available as full version (with 160 gear models included) or free version (with 24 gear models), or in special dedicated collection versions of the Powered by AmpliTube family like Amplitube Slash, AmpliTube Metal and AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ (AmpliTube Metal and AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ models are included in the full version) or branded version like AmpliTube Fender™ or Ampeg® SVX. All these versions share the same framework of features and functionalities, but with different collections of gear. Plus you can add any gear to the version you choose via the Custom Shop feature currently with over 230 gear models and more added frequently."

Get the full AT3. Then consider adding the Fender, SVX sets. Slash reportedly has updated Marshalls but is customshop only which is problematic for offline DAWs.braj wrote:Thanks, I pm'd him, i appreciate the heads-up!waltercruz wrote:Well According to Ikmultimedia site, Amplitube 3 includes Amplitube Metal and Jimi Hendrix, and if I recall correctly, I saw a 2nd had amplitube on market place for 80 bucks...

Amplitube Hendrix was my favorite years ago but it doesn't come close to Scuffham S-Gear. I still use Amplitube as a pedalboard but that's about it.

That just shows how little I use AT3waltercruz wrote:Well According to Ikmultimedia site, Amplitube 3 includes Amplitube Metal and Jimi Hendrix, and if I recall correctly, I saw a 2nd had amplitube on market place for 80 bucks...
I knew about the Metal part (which sounds awful) but totally forgot about Hendrix.
I do like the Fender pack, but IIRC that was a separate purchase.
S-Gear is definitely quite good and the price is more than reasonable.sergevoluminous wrote:Amplitube Hendrix was my favorite years ago but it doesn't come close to Scuffham S-Gear. I still use Amplitube as a pedalboard but that's about it.

Also note that AmpliTube 3 FREE is 64 bit and can open AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix gear inside of it making it fully 64 bit. You can also try them out and compare them to your current gear for 48 hours before buying in the Custom Shop.braj wrote:I currently have PODFarm acting as my main amp sim, but Amplitube Jimi Hendrix is on sale for a couple days more and I am thinking about getting it and am just curious about opinions on the bundle. I'm in the process of buying Amplitube 3 used right now I tried the Scuffham S-Gear which sounded good but for my needs and the price I'm paying Amplitube 3 is a better fit.

Amplitube for pedals and S-Gear for amps is a great combination. Especially the newer Custom Shop pedals like the T-Rex. But nothing I've tried sounds as good as S-Gear as far as amps go.

+1 on the AT3 rotary speaker. One of the best around, IMO.
Edit: BTW, that was not intended to be a pun.
