I presume it's programmed. It sounds like they've chosen the wrong quantize value or something. Or maybe it was intended.Either way is it distracts from what is quite decent track.

Not at all I'm a big fan odd time signatures or grooves but it sounds lumpy to me.Numanoid wrote:You mean it is not four-to-the-floor, bom bom bom bom bom bom bom bomKraznet wrote:It sounds like they've chosen the wrong quantize value or something.

OK after listening to it a few more times it makes more sense. I wonder if it was played or programmed or maybe that doesn't matter anyway. It's David Bowie so he can do what he wants. Even more so now. I presume Tony Visconti produced it?

Yes it does have echoes of Scott Walker. The video is pretty bleak.I guess a reflection of the times and dystopian future.Harry_HH wrote:Bowie has gone in the latest more to the avant garde, not as much as Scott Walker who he likes, but a bit to that direction.
P.s. Scott is great.

But he has been on that vibe pretty much since Never Let Me Down album (Day in Day Out) in ' 87. The Outside album in the 90's was cyber/dystopian alsoKraznet wrote:The video is pretty bleak.I guess a reflection of the times and dystopian future.

There's nothing inherently wrong or right, good or bad (in music).Kraznet wrote:I presume it's programmed. It sounds like they've chosen the wrong quantize value or something. Or maybe it was intended.Either way is it distracts from what is quite decent track.
I like this track.

It's not bad, and since it's repeated, it's not a mistake, it's art If you like that, you might really like Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden." Full disclosure, I'm a Talk Talk fan, I like all of their work. But, I love the drums on this album, reminds me of the fiber skin card for the Korg DDD-1. At any rate, it's quite different rhythmically from the Bowie stuff, but also not exactly mainstream pop.
