High pass everything, then brickwall it, and do it again until all you have is distorted white noise. Then put a high shelf on that and boost it to the max. Then limit it again.

My advice echoes those above. Forget about mastering and focus purely on mixing.

I think the method of highpassing absolutely everything except kick/bass and then lowpassing the master really low (18khz or less)... is really extreme. If you're gunning for a spot on the Beatport EDM charts and puposely the limiter at the expense of dynamics, then sure - but otherwise maybe go easy on all the filtering :) For instance snares, crash cymbals and hihats sound more natural with SOME actual sound content under 200hz intact, heh!

Yes, and: You mostly need to use shelving filters, no need to clear ALL of the low or highend usually.
