Short off-Challenge related update:
The homepage got a slight update with a new campaign (see the orange bar in the middle of the launch page)
You can find that slight alteration here: http://www.mix-challenge.com

Reason for this update: there is currently a Survey (Questionnaire) about the Challenge running. This is important to us. Please give us honest feedback with as many information as possible. Especially on your negative answers (without that, there is no chance to improve things).

You can find the survey here: http://survey.mix-challenge.com/index.php/584964
Deadline: 15th March 2017

Hey, M.O.R.K.

In my case, I uploaded the song to SoundCloud. It's not obligatory though.

Cheers,

The 1st time I listened to this song I immediately thought of "Jump" by Van Halen. Great 80's vibe! I chose to honor your panning (or at least close to it...). Unfortunately, there are no vocals to surround with the instruments, which made it tough find a focus. Were you planning to add vocals at some point?

Well first, thank you, and... no vocals were intended. The project started with some noodling around that got me the whammy bar screams which reminded me of Ed. Next I tried to get a realistic drum sound out of the synth. When that worked I had to find a song format to showcase my finds and so this came out :)

It is Wednesday the 22nd February 1:00am GMT+1/CET - MC29's Mix Round 1 has officially ended.
If I didn't count wrong, we sadly only got 8 participants this month

Please check all of your links again, make your tracks downloadable (ideally with a WAV link, and without special login). Add to your post with further information as to what you did (if you feel like it).

Our "virtual client" will take a listen to all entries and get back to you ASAP.
Until then... thank you for your participation and please watch this space. :tu:

Hi mixers,

First of all, thanks for doing this and putting time and effort in my little rocktune/big OneSynthChallenge headache.
Here's my conclusion for round 1.

baddo - In your mix, I think the keyboards are too soft, you made some really boomy toms too. Strong points of your mix are the really agressive guitar sound (although a bit too upfront) and snare.

Dave mc Isaac - You made a sort of a washy snare, you've overdone it a bit I think. The guitar sounds very crunchy but is a little too narrowsounding for my taste,The bass is nice and keys too.
The mix is a bit on the trebly side however the drumbreak is too boomy.

Michaeltn86 - You mix has little bass and a harsh guitar, but the space you created is okay. You made some nice toms but they are unevenly in volume. I noticed the last keyboard solo is drowning in the soundscape.

MORK - Your mix: nice levels, balancing bass and drums, keys and guitars. However, the guitars are drowning during drumbreak, they might be a bit more prominent there. Make the snare a bit less loud in the drumbreak please.

mwaudioprod ; you got a nice low end, a dry production with a nice frequency balance. Make the guitarfills a little louder please, make 'm cut through, including divebombs. The ending of the song is very suddenly, you don't have to make a full fade out but make it a little smoother please.

photonic: I think the guitar sounds nasal and is very narrow in space. You made a nice dry snare and a good stereo image with rehearsal-area feel, very nice find! make the guitarfills also wider in space please. To my ears, the guitarchords during the drumbreaks are too less prominent and could use some wider space. Nice key solos! great dive bomb ending! One last request: please make up the snare, more fullbodied so to spreak, not neccesary louder.Drums are grooving!

thiagoam88- You have too much reverb on snare, also please less reverb on toms. You got a nice intro guitarsound,I like the panning and space! For the 2nd verse: please keep the ringing cymbals/copper in check a little more.
You mixed nice levels between guitars and keys and got a nice separation and space in ending. A bit darker mix this is, compared to all others, which isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong please..

vasdim : nice guitar intro, but your snare is a bit too dry. The snare, the ending kicks and the toms are too much upfront, even for my taste :D get me a little drum room sound and space please. Last request: let the guitarfills and screams pop out a little more.

Mixers for round 2 are:

Dave mcIsaac
MORK
mwaudioprod
photonic
thiagoam88
vasdim

Good luck in round 2 and again thanks everyone!
