Nobody said they can't live without it. I was just explaining what it actually is, since some don't know what it is and keep insisting that S1's clip gain is the same as PT's (or Cubase's) clip gain, and it's actually not. It only has one of the two parts.
Is it the exact same thing as automating plugin gain with track automation? No, not really, because when you change the envelope the waveform shapes themselves change, so you can kinda visually even things out before even playing it back again.
Can you work without that thing? Obviously you can, since (I assume) some other daws don't have it.

Yeah, it"s rather handy for drawing out stuff like "ka's" and other things in vocals. Rather than split the clip and fade, just draw it out (draw it down) with the gain envelope.
In Cubase I would just draw a "V" on the gain envelope in those spots, with the bad spot being right at the bottom. Handy, and a good bit less "messy" than splitting a vocal clip in 60 places. Also makes manual de-essing pretty easy.
Not sure how it fully works in PT, but in Cubase the editable envelope only goes down, does trim, not gain beyond the initial clip gain like the other non-editable envelope. But they work together so you can use the other one to makeup gain.

If you want to know the last estimate for the 2.5 launch: "Hopefully by the end of this month", according to an insider.

I just want a list of new features and fixes, that would be nice I'm happy to wait for a stable release.

Me too. I'm like a crack addict checking the presonus site everyday. At least I know recording of VST's and bus feature is on the way. I bought S2 pro after a short demo and I was gobsmacked when I realised that wasn't possible. After that they need to improve the midi side of things and I'll be rather pleased.braj wrote:Yeah, well still, it is what I want to knowkev2525 wrote:That just ends up in half the people bitching and other half peeing their pants with joy. Yep, it is really the midi side that I want to hear about, any improvements to routing would be welcome. I'd like the issue where after closing Studio One (with or even without a crash) and try ti relaunch it, it states an instance is still running. That would be a huge improvement, maybe the biggest considering that I have to reboot when that happens.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking: does comping work this intuitively in Studio One for MIDI takes as well? Say I'm listening to a section of a project and noodle over MIDI for 15 minutes over and over , will I have the same powerful comping facilities for the resulting MIDI data?cryophonik wrote:Thanks - here's the clickable link:

(Sorry for chiming in with this question, it's just that I still haven't gotten around to actually trying the demo, and this aspect interests me a lot.)

Is that just a rumor or based on something factual?atraf11 wrote:its actually not being released. beta is takignso long they are just going to combine it with other shit theyve been working on and bring out a massive 3.0 update in the next 6 months
I do know a guy showed a icon shortcut named 3.0 in a video and the rumor mill started churning.

Apparently, there will be not only a 2.5 release, even a 2.6 before 3
They announced a free 2.5 update and they aren't going to disappoint their users now. That "Studio 3" icon in a video was probably a joke, for what I've heard.

Not that it's of any help but S1 works on par with Cubase 6.5 (well, I sold Cubase recently...)hibidy wrote:I can't use S1. It's not that the features are not good, it's that three guitar tracks with plugins I like and it chokes out CPU, and that is with an i7. So, that's been documented by a lot of people. Sonar isn't as efficient as reaper, but it's not too bad.
2.07, x64 on a pretty good machine, but nothing special really...
