Cylob Music System :
http://durftal.com/cms/cylobmusicsystem.html
created in SuperCollider

Then you have Autechre's Max patches, as well as Squarepusher's Reaktor patches, Aphex's own stuffs be etc...
The list could go on and on, Alva Noto, Ryoji Ikeda, Leafcutter John, Sutekh, Aoki Takamasa and many many others code their own sequencers/synths/whetever.

Psycle is not only free as in beer, but also free as in speech, just so you know.

Interesting

audiogl

was looking for that
problem is:
$80 to buy in at the beta stage
when version 1 drops
$80 discount
and no idea of final price

doesn't seem like a good bughunting deal to me
might as well wait to see final pricing 'cos
at the moment it's $80 dollars to play with a beta
and no knowing if one can afford full entry

I updated the pricing yesterday. $80 gets you a free upgrade to Version 1.0 when it's released.

If you want to skip the Beta stage, expect the finished product to be about $150.

Grab it while it's hot: https://www.audiogl.com/en/downloads

Looks like you boys have not heard of the upcoming Epoch

No I had not heard of Epoch, but it looks very exciting. I hope it is not too expensive for me in my new role as part of the 'flexible workforce'

PianoRollComposer at jdmcox.com is a free Windows sequencer that's primarily for writing music.

I checked Zynewave's website for the first time in a long time. Still on release 3.1 from 2011.

Shame, I thought it was a really nice DAW with a lot of things going for it but I experienced a lot of crashes and felt it could have had a more polished looking GUI.

Bit of a headf**k but great for generating and mangling midi.
