All I know about is to loopback an output and record, but I'm pretty new to Cubase.
In VST Connections dialog there is a column for click where you can select where it goes.
I have an optical in and out that is suitable on my interface.
Otherwise Cubase has pretty good settings for metronome, I find, that is lacking in other daws I tried. Like deciding if preroll position tempo is to be used for count-in, or the tempo where recording starts. So need for clicktrack is less, I think.

Do you mean actually record the metronome? Not just record with the metronome?
If you have a synth handy, you can make it's sound very easily. It's a square wave with a very short decay. A blip. Play the downbeats an octave higher, like |: C4, C3, C3, C3 :|, it will sound exactly the same.
