New Product in development - "The Ultimate Channel Strip"

Almost sounds like MUX... Just saying. I can already combine my VST, map their parameters to the front panel, make the front panel look fancy and all, and tada, custom interface for controlling VSTs. Not to mention it's also a modular synth/effect area and can basically do anything when you add a VST into it...
But we'll see where this product goes

Thanks for the extended explanation.Nyrv wrote:lfm,
How would you feel about 96 channels, 16 busses and the master track all controllable from a $750 controller system.
Ok. its not that simple. We are giving you control over the channel strip in a way that Mackie Universal and ICON simply don't even contemplate. We will not be providing full DAW control at this stage because everyone is doing that. What we are doing is creating an environment that lives both inside and outside your DAW so you can control more 1800 plugin accessible in 2-3 button pushes.
for the first 32 tracks 8 busses and the master it is as simple as press track selector on your controller and all your tracks and busses are available in 1 push. another 64 tracks and 8 busses are available with 4 page buttons
each track can load 16 plugin effects and map their controls across 96 controls. We believe this level of control is unprecedented and it can be exercised over virtually any combination of plugins in your library.
Correct me if I got this wrong.
You can control each instance of channelstrip, on multiple tracks inside a daw - but just no bothering with navigating the daw itself?
That is really neat. No more activate each track first to manipulate(unless the page thing above 32 to switch hardware).
That is really what you want - getting away from the activate track frist and crap.
Just making a project template with 32 tracks with this loaded - and a new project is up and running in no time.
Will hardware be like 16 channel expandale or something, or it starts as bigger than that, 32?
I feel exitement rising...

will there be enough resolution to make everything finely tuned? will it support stepped controls (i.e. on/off, fixed compression ratios/frequencies, etc.)?
i've checked out the code controller of which this thing is allegedly based, and i've got a few concerns. first of all, it looks kinda cramped - i hope this thing has bigger space between the handles than the code controller. second of all, code controller is MIDI - which means, 127 steps per knob. which is kinda lame if you want to fine-tune anything other than stepped controls. how does this new controller solve this problem?

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I think a button to press/hold while turning a knob could switch between fine/coarse movement.Burillo wrote:will there be enough resolution to make everything finely tuned? will it support stepped controls (i.e. on/off, fixed compression ratios/frequencies, etc.)?

All NRPN allow MSB and LSB so that should not be a problem.
As an idea for hardware, I'm thinking.
One fine/coarse button as standard to hold for the knob you use.
Does not need to be on each strip - one for the controller would be fine.

Sorry my man, but MUX has a horrible UI... Fancy?dakkra wrote:Almost sounds like MUX... Just saying. Anyway.. this sounds really exciting, I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.

You are dead on with the use case you described.lfm wrote:Thanks for the extended explanation.Nyrv wrote:lfm,

The hardware itself is really a 1 channel channel strip and effects rack controller. but from it you near instant access to control any of 113 instances (96 + 16 +1) Just the fact that you can move from tracks to busses is something I don't see accomplished anywhere. at least not right. and it is because you have to activate the track first.
Also, because the AGENT channel strip and effects rack are completely customizable you can load all the parameters of your crazy reverb plugin, drop that on your reverb buss, put a buss comp on the strip and you have that instantly accessible as well. Set up your mastering plugins as another preset and you can control your whole mastering chain from one interface without changing focus from compression to eq to limiter. They are all right at your fingertips.

So just to get this right (still a lot of Q's, see page 1), AGENT needs the SYNAPS protocol for either controller in order to use AGENT efficiently without host track arming or something.

So principle is a bit like Softtube Console 1, but you open up for any plugin to be used.Nyrv wrote: You are dead on with the use case you described.

And you position from a row of hardware buttons directly on a specific track(like Console 1)?
It's really a PITA with next/previous thingies out there(I understand it does not touch daw, but that's ok, strip plugins is most important ).
And software interface is that like Softtube too - popping up above daw and disapperar as you like it?
Arranged in a manner you want it sidebyside with original plugin gui's visible on screen?
If any of this is true - we are going from yummy to boiling hot.

Actually, I really like MUX's GUI, and always felt it is intuitive and user-friendly. Then again, I'm generally a fan of Jo's (Mutool's) designs.vstyler wrote:Sorry my man, but MUX has a horrible UI...

Here is a preview of the new track selector page. We continue to make progress day by day. I expect to be opening the beta test registrations in the next 2 weeks.

Did you think about the VU/PPM combo meter that I talked about on Twitter?
