I use a lot of NI stuff in X3 and have never had a lick of trouble with it. There are a lot of things to like about that program.

Thanks kontakt 5.3.1 is the issue for me.
I can get in when I do google search and click on cakewalk store.
But when I type www. cakewalk.com the sight is a blank page.

Running Kontakt 5.3.1 here in X3 without a single issue. I use multiple instances of Kontakt 5 in every track I do. I've only had X3 for a couple of weeks, but 100% stable so far and no cpu issues.

I got the x3 producer demo running. Tried a project with 4 instances of Vmetal and 6 amp sims.
It ran a better in sonar than in cubase but I still got some dropped notes. Gonna test play 4 today.
I'm looking at the sonar x3 upgrade 24.99

Dropped MIDI notes are usually the result of too small a playback buffer. Increase the value in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording "Prepare Using nnn Milisecond Buffers" from the default 250 to 500 or 750.
