Hi ,

I tried to export audio tracks as mono .

why are the dynamics lost when downmix to mono is clicked while exporting in cubase ?

Most of it looked like square waves with no dynamics .

How do I solve this and render my midi tracks as mono to use them for mixing ?

Post

anyone can help me understand this ?

Is there a compressor/limiter anywhere in the chain? Anything on the master? I don't know Cubase ... could you explain your method for rendering a little more ?

Post

no .. there is no plugins in the chain

Sure you're just not zoomed into the waveform? That you didn't hit the zoom slider on the right of the Project Window?

When you downmix to mono (I assume from stereo) you sum to channels to one.
If the two channels are already playing at around maximum you get clipping when downmixing.

Could this be the case ? If so, try lowering the volume before downmixing.

The instruments don't clip during playback ..

Try turning them down by a few db to see if it renders at a better level. Was wondering why you want the files to be mono ... are they currently in stereo? The picture means nothing to me. Its a bunch of waveforms, some clipped, some not ... can we see before & after maybe?

I turned down by -6 dB but still it does not have much difference .

Not much, or no difference?

The first channel in the img is in +2dB volume and the secong channel is -6dB .
I have reduced almost 8 dB in volume and still the result is very minimal .

This has happened to me only when I am limiting very badly . I have never seen this kinda stuff before .

How do I do a mono export of the tracks for mixing ?

Post

If you export in stereo are the levels ok?
