What are good studio headphones for $50 or under?

I'm looking for something that has enough low end, but doesn't have to be a lot like the beats headphones. I want to be able to play around with soft synths and my electric guitar and get a good sound out of them.

Also, I want headphones that don't hurt my hearing or cause motion sickness, dizziness or some kind of discomfort in my head. I think when I tried the sennheiser hd280's I had some uncomfortable feeling in my head.

Does anyone know if there are headphones that'd fit what I want?

The Superlux HD 681.

They have a peak at around 10khz but they're astonishing linear compared to other headphones.
Can't say anything about comfort but i guess it a matter to get used to it.

I have a superlux something or another. Very clear highs. Makes my other ear buds sound really muddy and bass heavy.

I have these and i really like them: http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-HD668B-D ... er+lux+668 Of course not comparable with high end headphones i guess, but for listening to music, and fiddling with synth plugins, they're great. As has already been said, very clear, clean sound.

My mastering engineer recommended to me the Sennheiser HD 201. 20€

Do they have enough thump or punch in the low end for some nice bass from synths and an electric guitar?

OK, so I have the 681 EVOs. The one thing I don't like about headphones in general is that the bass doesn't thump. When I want that, I use ear buds or real speakers. The EVOs do fine but no heavy thumping... Very clear sound for like doing a mix or hearing the highs in a complex synth patch.

What I've decided is that you're always sacrificing either highs or lows in earbuds/headphones.

I'm hoping I could get something like a Roland keyboard amp. One time I heard one of those and they seemed to have some thump to them. I wonder if cheap headphones exist that could emulate something similar.

You guys think I should get some non headphones?

Looks like the Superlux 668B has more bass response, you can see the chart in this thread here.

I think headphones are difficult for mixing and you need to know them.
They are good to mix fine details but if you do i would only run them on low volume, otherwise your ear get tricked.

Listening loud on headphones on the long run is bad for your ears ,it is nice to listen loud for a couple of minutes though.

For more bass, the Sennheiser CX 300 II are nice but i would not use them for mixing.

Anyway, you always need some monitors for comparision.

I wonder if they have already been sued by AKG, the entire design has been copied from AKG headphones.

I wonder how and where they can produce such cheap studio headphones.

I feel that "under $50" and "good studio headphones" are mutually exclusive requirements. I'd rather wait a bit longer and get something decent. (But I haven't heard the above mentioned Superlux headphones).

I have a Peavy keyboard amp plugged into my audio interface right now :) Sounds great for any of the synth VSTs I use and drums don't sound half-bad through it either.
