Rewire midi channels

I'm wondering when you select a midi channel for a rewired device whether it needs to only show active channels.
It currently shows 255 busses with 16 channels each. Anything not used just shows up as "Bus x, Channel x".
Trying out a couple of rewired apps:
Reaper:
First 16 channels are "Reaper midi bus 1 channel x"
The rest are the standard unused names.
Reason:
The Reason device names start at Bus 6.
It's no big deal but just thinking it would be neater if it filtered out all the unused ones.

Some newbie my not think is possible to rewire in the free MU.LAB as I just saw in another forum. That could have been the reason.
MuLab-Reaper of course

I was just assuming you could pattern match ""Bus x, Channel x" as being not in use. Maybe it's more complicated than that.
Ableton seems to just show the used channels
