I have an old 2008 MacBook with OS X Snow Leopard running on it that I had more or less retired because I could not run a lot of the newer software on it. I remember reading on the MuTools site that MuLab would run on Snow Leopard so I thought I'd try it. I copied it onto a USB memory stick, plugged it into the old MacBook and, lo and behold, it works like a charm. I'm not sure how many tracks and/or VST plugins I could run but, for smaller projects, it has no problems. I use an old Edirol UA-25EX audio interface for which drivers are still available and that works great, too. So, moral of the story, if you have an old MacBook or MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, you have just found a good reason to repurpose it for something worthwhile (music making) instead of being a paperweight.
