I agree with that but lets look at the prices. How many hours do you think it takes to create a sound bank? Now how many hours do you think it takes to create a synth. Something tells me that 25 euros for 128 patches is fairly expensive if you consider sylenth is only 139 euros. Sylenth should be about 10000 euros if we are going on hours work
I have no idea how long it takes to code and bug-check a soft-synth. Neither can I speak for any of the other sound designers on how long they spend working on a soundbank.

But to give you an idea of how long it can take, on the current soundbank I'm working on for Zebra, the longest I spent was 6 hours spread over 2 days working on just one particular preset.

Also bare in mind the creative arts isn't really something one can just switch on and off like laying a brick wall or vacuuming a floor. It either flows or it doesn't, just like making music. Well certainly the better quality ones anyways. If one just goes through the motions joining the dots in as quick fashion as possible, the results suffer.

I know that sounds really corny the whole 'ohhh I have to be in the right frame of mind, whats my motivation daaaaarling' , but it's kinda true!.

I actually hit a brick wall half way through this bank where my creative juices just seemed to stop, the presets I was starting to make I was binning as they just weren't cutting it. So I made myself take a break, just for a few days, played some silly computer games, went for long walks, focused on very different things. Came back to it feeling more refreshed and things started to flow well again :)

I agree totally with your comment..I have just completed a soundset for Sylenth which i'll release soon which took just a little over 4 months to complete. All i need to do now is compile the mp3 demo for it.
I remember 1 preset took me 4 hours one night and 3 or 4 more the next day to get it sounding how i wanted.
Taking a break is a good idea aswell,i went fishing hehe and came back all refreshed to complete the set...

Any further info?
Not so far but sooner or later it will follow since i own most of the banks listed here. Some banks are already rated in other threads at the forum.

For the beginning:
The banks from http://www.vstsoundbanks.com/ are almost a steal as you get 256 high quality patches for around 10 Euros (exactly 9.95 Euros).
My other favourites are the soundbanks from Arksun and CFA-Audio.
+1 !!!!!!!!!

This is a great great set and value for the money is outstanding!
