Hi,

I'm new SynthMaster 2.7 (Factory) legit user, Windows 7 x64 platform, REAPER 5.15 (x64) as DAW, using x64 VSTi. Discovering "the monster"! :D

I precise I'm hobbyist at home, not C.M. professional, but "some skill" about software synths & sound design (using mainly DUNE 2, OP-X PRO-II and Dexed synths).

I'll try to explain more clearly as possible what I don't understand (despite my poor English).

- Using regular skin (not Player).
- Starting from "New Preset" (Init feature), playing on MIDI controller, have the "init" sound.
- Now from "Layer 1" tab, I turn off both "OSC 1" and "OSC 2".
- Playing on MIDI keyboard, I don't have sound (I precise, from "Layer 2" tab, "OSC 1" is, by default, turned ON).

==> using other words: layer 1 = off, layer 2 = on.

Trying to compare both layers, but I can't see difference, anywhere.
I've take a look about Sadowick video tutorials, but no answer found. Multiple KVR forum searches, too.

What I wrong? because sure I'm wrong somewhere... :hihi:

Thanks in advance for help/explanations. :help:

Layer 2 is bypassed in the init preset - the control is over to the right next to Master Volume.

Thank so much, Gamma-UT!
Really appreciated!

Don't have considered Master Volume section as "an idiot" I am sometimes! :hihi:
Understood it's the "Bypass" switch located below volume knob...

It's one of those things that makes sense once you realise it's there, as it makes it really quick to isolate the two layers when doing sound design.

But I don't think you're alone in expecting the Layer output control to be on the layer pages themselves. What might make sense is to have some kind of visual indication on the Layer buttons that shows whether they are muted or not.

Yes, actually, this should be a general idea: every feature or effect that is deactivated or unaffected because it's bypassed in a way or another could be displayed in another color. Say everything that is "working" is in regular blue, and everything that is bypassed is in brown (colors being selectable). They would still be modifiable at any time, but displayed in the other color. It's less confusing tahn asking myself why nothing changes when I move a knob or button.

I'm going to make a request for that in the change request thread.

I've reminded this but later: using color scheme (in particular, selectable colors) will be nearly impossible, because SM is... skinnable. Eg. try to compare default skin and - (loving) -TranquilBlue skin (by satYatunes), using same preset... Impossible IMO. Now "camping" on my optinion :hihi: (or waiting for another, but viable idea/compromise), for me active = light/LED ON, that's all, simply verify any VSTi (or effect) you've on your system, and please admit all synths (except SM) are using this model. Exactly like your Hifi elements.
