does plugins like "phrasendrescher" killing good musically therory?

So I watched the demo video. It looks like this is mostly just an arpeggiator with step sequencer automation lanes. I was expecting disturbing a little more elaborate.

Liquid Music is currently my favorite of these types of tools. It really breaks down every possible aspect of melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic progression into a powerful system which can be as automatic or as hands-on as you like.
