Here are some examples of different drum patters I've made with Zebra.

Note: To get Drunk Machine to sound normal, adjust the "Stumble" parameter (under Drunkness) to zero.

I'll join in.
One thing - can it be any rhytmic drum sequence, or does it have to be old school drum machine sounds?
I ask because I'm more interested in making a nice organic rhythm of beating steel, etc...

Okay, I think that the task needs to have some focus so I think that we should concentrate on the single patch percussion sequence - rather than a 'static' drum kit or single percussion hit patch. Otherwise it just all gets confusing.
justin3am's patches (in the post above - nice one justin
) are pretty much the kind of thing that I had in mind.
@Kodama - I don't think it should necessarily be vintage drum machine sounds per se, or even just drum machines - I prefer the general idea of percussive sequences (so long as it is percussion and not just any rhythmic seq like, say, a trance gated supersaw, or a bass arp). Your organic metallic sequence sounds like a nice idea
Anyway, I'll think of a better description when it comes to writing up the official contest announcement shortly. And I'll pm Mr Bit to see if he has any further thoughts on the subject.
And I've lost count now.... it's either 6 or 5 to go.
@ Everyone - you might want to vote in the current contest
(at the top of the forum). It seems to be going very slowly this time.

Yep, I said I wanted eleven people other than myself - to make a dirty dozen. I would imagine that MC will take part? - he has done every time so far.elxicano wrote:Hakey, did you count yourself too?

I think I might come in. I am starting to learn how to use Zebra and this looks like a nice challenge.
Does it need to be a drumkit or a single sound?
So far I am making a small drum kit...

I think that the task is going to be to make a rhythmic percussion sequence patch - a drum kit is a great way to start, but it will also require triggering into a sequence - don't worry, this can be done fairly easily using a combination of the arp and MSEGs and I'll give a tutorial to show how.

well, so far I have made this:
[Link removed]
it's a Drum Kit, so far it only has Hi-Hat, Kick and Snare drum. I want to add Toms/Claves sounds
The loop is simply programmed via MIDI, the patch is GM Compatible (drum sounds mapped to the GM standard)
I am pretty happy with it so far, still need to work on it tho

No, don't worry about it - it's not like the contest rules are deadly serious or anythingautodafe wrote:ooops sorry, I thought MP3 were permitted. should I remove this mp3???
I'd already listened anyway

Hi Hakey/everybody I hope your creative juces are flowing, good show to the peeps allready up for the game.
Anyway its all good.
I might also have a go at a you tube vid tutorial picking apart some of my multihit presets can't promise anything.
As allways have fun
Bit
I was thinking complete kits from one patch either midi sequenced or Step/Env/LFO sequenced but if numbers are down maybe thats too limiting and including single hits to might yield some wicked emulations.blurk wrote:Personally, I think we should be allowed to do either of those (plus the third alternative of a complete kit). Since we can submit two patches, I'd be looking at doing two different types of patch.BradP wrote:Just to clarify, are we supposed to make a sequenced rhythm or just the individual drum hits?

Good. I will definitely be in...
I am working both on a DrumKit (kick, snare, hihat and toms) all in a single patch and another patch with "loops" triggered by Multistages...
When does the contest start? rules? where do we submit? (sorry, it's my first time here
)

Hi, I'll write the full a announcement with a clearly defined task once enough people sign up (5 or 6 to go yet - and sorry to have to do it this way, but with as a low turn out as for the last contest it would hardly seem worth doing). For a feel of how these contests generally run look at the thread for Contest #3 (in the stickies bit at the top of the forum).autodafe wrote:Good. I will definitely be in...
