The way this bass is designed

Hey. I am trying to create a bass for a track i am making, and i would really like to be able to create it using a similar way to how it is created in this track..

At 1.40 when it kicks in, its asif the bass dips then comes back up but all on the same note..

I have tried a few things but i cannot get it to sound the same, it may be because i am using a different bass sample though.

Is this just purely pitch or is there other effects/ controls that would normally make this type of sound?

its just portamento

Thanks - every time i build my own patch in sylenth1 the portamento has no effect. My virus comes today i will hopefully be using it today then!
